Abstract
Cisapride is a new prokinetic drug which releases acetylcholine in the myenteric plexus and has no dopamine blocking and nonspecific cholinergic properties.
Authors performed trial to evaluate the therapeutic effects of cisapride in non-ulcer dyspepsia including symptoms of reflux esophagitis.
Thirty-two patients with dyspeptic symptoms including reflux esophagitis were recruited in this study.
Patients were treated with oral administration of 10mg of cisapride(Prepulsid¢ç) four times daily for 8 weeks.
The obtained results were as follows;
1. The overall effective rate of cisapride in non-ulcer dyspeptic symptoms were respectively 62.4% and 87.5% after treatment of 4 and 8 weeks.
2. No side effects were observed.
Therefore we have impressed that cisapride is an effective and safe therapeutic agent for non-ulcer dyspepia including symptoms of reflux esophagitis.
